Headed home... by Nathaniel Harrington

Sorry I've been wrapped up in being busy here the last few days... I wanted to post but haven't been finding the time to get to it.

I'm just a couple hours from taking my return flight home, and I must say I'm stoked. It's time to get back to my wife and Tatum.

This trip has been a huge blessing! I'm so grateful to Potters Field Ministries for hosting me, letting me hang out, and showing me Antigua.

I'll wrap this up with a few more images of the city...

Thursday walk. by Nathaniel Harrington

Today was a walking day. Donothan wanted to show me around some more, so we went to the cross that over looks Antigua, from there we headed down into parts of the city where fewer tourist go, then heading off to walk through downtown again. Going through the high country above the city was pretty heavy... Homes up there are built with tin, they are tiny, they do have electric, but are really not much more than a shack. It was crazy to see.

this home was being built still. I'm curious to know what the final outcome will be.

Donothan and I walked through this church... It's heavy. Mother Mary is idolized along with other patriarchs of the scriptures throughout the entire church.

I'm just so thankful that Potters Field Ministries is here telling people about the true story of Jesus & the Bible. The church here has put a horrible oppression on the people forcing them to pay high prices for supposable "salvation". Keep the Potters Field  crew in prayer as they continue to reach out to these peoples spreading the Gospel, "We are saved by grace, not of works lest any man should boast".

I'll miss these views.

I'm looking forward to a couple more days here in Guatemala. I'm so thankful for this time here.

Day 3 Guatemala. by Nathaniel Harrington

Today was so awesome. It was Potters Field Ministries Kids Day. The campus was swarmed with frothing futbol players eager to play games and watch skits. It's amazing to see the impact happening here.

I did a ton if video work today and have no photos to share of the kids yet... So we'll just look forward to seeing all the action as more edits come out of the school.

My wife, Tatum, wanted to see the coffee shop I go to in the morning to use wifi and blog... It has an amazing view!

I'm going to miss this streets when we leave... :(

later in the evening we wanted to go up the streets to play some basketball.. We were greeted by locals who practice there often, and yes, we got to play them. Turns out Potters Field doesn't boast a dream team, we got spanked hard! Haha. It was fun to   get into the court and play though... They had a giant on their team who could dunk without jumping, we had no chance.

This game ended with Ezequil introducing the Potters Field Mission to the locals and we were able to spend 10-15min praying and talking with them. Awesome. The outcome was worth getting our butts kicked!

they practice here a few times a week and are very organized...  We saw the beating coming from a mile away. :) so fun!

sweet. It was such a busy day today. We have no schedule for tomorrow so I am hoping we can explore deeper.

Till then,

Instant Realization... by Nathaniel Harrington

Has reality hit? If your answer to that is no, or even maybe, then I have an idea for you. Search.

Flying over Cuba today... Strange feelings to look down at this Island considering the poverty and oppression that happens there... So close to home.

Flying over Cuba today... Strange feelings to look down at this Island considering the poverty and oppression that happens there... So close to home.

Today is my first day in Antigua, Guatemala. At the end of a very melo 2 1/2 hour flight from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, you can find yourself in a very real atmosphere, filled with very real issues, and genuinely real people.

I've left the USA couple times... Once for the sweetest surf trip ever, 1500 miles into Baja, Mexico. The other, a soccer tournament in Canada. Mexico was a big eye-opener for me, that's when the fire began to burn. I've seen the American way of life all my life long, until that border crossing.... I was for the first time introduced to poverty, a reality I had to see first hand because words cannot describe.

Guatemala is now my second glimpse at things sometimes talked about back home but very rarely ever acted upon. It makes me to wonder, what it would be like for US citizens if they were met with 3rd world living conditions every day? What would that look like for you?

I am of all people the biggest culprit of self pity and selfishness. My finger is pointed straight upon my own face at the realization that there are millions of people in this world that need freshwater and food. I'm told that everyday, but what have I ever done about it? I am so extremely humbled and honored to leave my cozy lifestyle for a week to whiteness a very unique and strangely exceedingly more stylish way of life here in Guatemala. The eye-opening experience of this culture quickly turns into heart surgery on spiritual levels.

It's been a half a day here and my mind is spinning with culture shock.. A taxi picked us up from the airport, drove us through Guatemala City, and dropped us off in the touristic village of Antigua. The car ride showed me  that there are major needs in this country, a quick walk around Antigua impressed me with beauty beyond my imagination.

I am not sure what the rest of this week is going to show me but I'm praying that The Lord shows me truth, and teaches me compassion. It's going to be an awesome adventure to embark on with my new friend Donothan Williams and all the staff/students here at Potters Field Ministries located in Antigua, Guatemala. My first thoughts and introduction to this blog on this trip have been thoughts stirring in my head for quite some time(since Mexico...). Also, I don't claim to be much of a writer but I hope I can throw a few thoughts and feelings into this blog this week. I want to share what happens here and I want to share visuals of this amazing landscape. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as this week continues.

Here's such a tiny part of what I saw today. I'm going to do my best to give updates all week long as this trip progresses. Enjoy the beauty!
