East Coast Surfing

Quick trip to OBX by Nathaniel Harrington

It’s been a pretty wild year of finding all sorts of photo work outside of surfing and action sports. The work is of course awesome, it’s mostly fishing and boating or something like that so I cannot complain. However, it’s really taking me away from surf. Not the ocean, just the surf. I’ve been a little anxious waiting all winter for a real proper winter swell to hit but that just hasn’t happened this winter.

So, off to the outer banks.

Forecast kinda got sketchy for a second, but we went with our gut and the original Surfline forecast. We packed up and off we went.

It was kinda firing.

The wind forecast scared us a bit but Jason Hines was on it, utilizing at least five different forecasting sites he was a step ahead of it.

Lucas Rogers, no doubt snagging the better waves the first morning we were up there. He was putting on a backside barrel clinic.

Every once in a while a clean and green one would make its way into the lineup. Lucas Rodgers.

Quentin Turko is an absolute charger. I wanted to upload an entire sequence of this shot but it’s difficult to do from a phone on the road. :/  visit my Instagram @natehphoto to see the whole sequence.

And attack of the foam ball. Quentin in the original stain glass cathedral however. Barrels are beautiful to be in :)

I think that’s going to do it for this post. I have a bunch of video and tons more photos so I’ll probably try to post another update.

until then, thanks for visiting my blog

3rd of July Light Show. by Nathaniel Harrington

Last night was all time. I mostly surfed, but had to grab the camera and take home a couple snaps. There were storms passing all around me with the sun periodically poking through to light up the surf. I was in awe the whole time. God has really created beauty that will always and forever impress me.

Have a happy 4th of July everyone!

Arthur Showing in Florida. by Nathaniel Harrington

Hey guys!

It's been a long, busy day for me and I haven't been able to get to all of my images that I would like to put together for a little showing of Tropical Storm Arthur... But I did grab two for a pre-view. It's been a fun day! Mine started at 6am, when I did not want to get up, I did anyways, and it turned out to be a great decision! My day ended with an amazing surf sesh and beautiful sunset.

Well here's the two, more to come soon.

I was thinking about walking the beach for a little while to attempt some scenic barrel shots... But after I saw this little wave go through I was way to amped to stay out of the water any longer. It was go time. I figured I could just try to capture the scene from the water where I like it the most. :)

Today's description of Arthur's surf: Clean. It has been a solid, clean day.

Happy July! So amped to get summer swell! Can't wait to post the rest...

Clear water tunnels. by Nathaniel Harrington

And I almost left the camera at home thinking that there was no possible way waves would be breaking... That turned into me running full speed back to the car to get the camera that I thankfully brought!

I was pretty amped to come across a few nuggets this morning in crystal clear water. The wind was a tad heavy on it, which gave just a bit more texture than I would have liked. I think if it could have been just a touch more melo we could have seen the bottom and out the back in every barrel. The water is Beautful! I'll try again another day. :)

Enjoy the slideshow! there's some great shots in there.

Even got to see a Nurse Shark without having to snorkel! It came swimming straight up to my feet, by the time I put the camera in the water she had turned to leave.. oh well. It was cool to see the sea life out and about in such prime conditions.

Thats a great start to the weekend!  Hope everyone enjoys theirs!

Surf SBI. by Nathaniel Harrington

Yesterday morning brought in some pretty clean surf conditions! Much needed this week.

I got out there with a few friends; Keith Mahon, Tom Fletcher, and John Buehrig. This is what we found.

Pelican's Surf.

Not too bad for a humpday.

I also got out this morning and found some un-surfable shorebreak. The colors were all there this morning. I'll post more of this later after I get a chance to go through them.

Hope you guys got some surf or a least relaxation!

Thanks for checkin in!
